Context Plugins
Give AI coding agents accurate, current context about your API and SDKs.
AI coding agents are good at writing code. They struggle with API integrations.
The problem isn't code generation; it's context. When an agent draws on stale training data or scraped docs, it produces code that calls endpoints that don't exist, uses wrong SDK versions, or mishandles authentication.
APIMatic Context Plugins give agents accurate, current context about your API, so developers get production-ready integrations without needing to read your docs or switch context. Developers go from your portal to a working integration in minutes, not hours. In production, teams have seen a 63% reduction in implementation time and a 78% decrease in rework.
What an APIMatic Context Plugin contains
- Your full API reference: endpoints, parameters, and request and response models
- Authentication details for each endpoint
- Versioned SDK code in the developer's language of choice
- Integration workflows and code samples from your documentation
- Skills for each language, covering client setup, authentication, calling endpoints, working with models, handling errors, configuration, and testing
Load an APIMatic Context Plugin into Claude Code, Cursor, or VS Code and the agent gains task-aware, grounded context. It can suggest the correct endpoint, generate type-safe SDK calls, handle authentication properly, and surface real integration patterns.
Generate and publish a plugin
1. Publish your SDKs with source code
The plugin references your APIMatic SDK repositories on GitHub, so publish with source code first:
apimatic sdk publish --publish-type=sourcecodeSee Publish SDKs.
2. Generate the plugin
apimatic plugin generateYou'll be asked for the plugin's ID, display name, and version.
3. Publish the plugin
apimatic plugin publishThis prints the git commands that publish your plugin to GitHub. It doesn't run them, so you can review what becomes public first.
Note: These commands build plugins for SDKs generated with Codegen v4.
